Ok so this is probably old news to everyone but me, but this is one of the coolest things I’ve seen in a little while:
remixing youTube. I love the Internet
PS: Happy St Patrick’s Day! Erin Go Bragh!

Because sharing is caring, I thought I’d share a link to the Pandora station I made, which I’ve been listening to a LOT lately, called Mercury, Lead and Gold. Get the reference?
Due to reasons I cannot even begin to explain here, 17hex (and indeed everything that was on the server with it) had to be moved to a new server. Along the way we got a MUCH larger array, faster computer and a good reason to upgrade to Wordpress 2.7. There were some “technical difficulties”, but they are now resolved, and 17hex is back and better than ever.
Thanks as always to Jamie for his continued free hosting and support.
I made a drum machine. It’s a free 8 channel stereo drum sampler that I made in Synthedit. I wanted a fun drum machine to use with Reaper that was easy and uncluttered but still could get some interesting sounds. Please click Arachnid on the top of the site to see if I was successful or not. I’m giving away not only the plugin but the source code too because I really hope someone will make an even BETTER one…
I have a lot going on. Duh.
Jill’s last day of work before maternity leave was today, and I was sort of buried under fixing last-minute report card issues (gotta love people who wait til the absolute last minute to do things, and then do the “ohmygoditsnotworkingandineeditrightnow” dance when there’s a problem). Of COURSE there will be a problem at the last minute (Murphy and I, we go way back)! With quite a bit of help, those crises were averted, and then we got a Xmas tree on the way home, set that up, and went out to dinner and Half-Price Books. Ahh Half-Price Books. (more…)
Back at work. Still sneaking in a few minutes here and there to tweak the blog layout (the code looks *awful* right now, as I just mashed together two documents with very little editing), but overall it is coming along nicely.
In other news, I have recently acquired a new toy to play with. It is an Alesis S4 Sound Module, which I’m sure I will have much fun with. I’m basically just trying it out, but with any luck I’ll get to keep it. In the meantime I’ll just sample off of it as much as possible… I’ll probably end up playing this (hooked up to my Mirage DSK-1 sampler) with Good Morning, instead of the Yamaha CS1x I’m using now. I guess it’s debateable which one actually sounds better. Maybe when I come up with a good voice to use on the s4, I’ll post recordings of each and let others choose!
